David Farer Marks 20th Anniversary of ALI-ABA Course on Environmental Law; Ann Waeger Participates as Faculty Member

David Farer, Chair of our Environmental & Brownfields practice group, chaired and lectured at the twentieth anniversary presentation of his annual American Law Institute – American Bar Association advanced course: “The Impact of Environmental Law on Real Estate and Business Transactions; Brownfields and Beyond,” on October 18-19 at the Marriott at Metro Center in Washington, D.C.

David was joined on the national faculty for this course by Ann Waeger of our Real Estate & Redevelopment practice group. David developed this course for ALI-ABA in 1988 and has served as its chair since that time. Ann has participated as a faculty lecturer since 1995.

Sessions addressed the latest developments in:

  • Brownfields redevelopment programs

  • Environmental Insurance

  • Regulatory obstacles to development and redevelopment

  • Liability protection and funding options for Brownfield deals

  • SEC environmental disclosure obligations and auditing

  • Due diligence strategies

  • The view from EPA, including initiations on climate change

  • Contractual allocation of environmental risks

    The October 2007 program featured presentations on two new topics – Building Green and Valuation of Contaminated Property.
