Susan Karp on Panel for May 29th ICREW NJ Educational Program on New Site Remediation Reform Act

New Jersey’s environmental and redevelopment communities are buzzing over the new Site Remediation Reform Act and its Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) Program, which Governor Corzine signed into law on May 7, 2009.

Understanding key points of this important piece of legislation – and being prepared to manage its impact on both existing and future real estate transactions – is essential for industry professionals involved in those deals.

To meet this need, Industrial/Commercial Real Estate Women, Inc. (ICREW NJ) has scheduled a special breakfast and educational session which will address these issues comprehensively and from a number of perspectives. The program will take place on Friday, May 29 from 8:30 am to 10:30am at the Woodbridge Hilton in Iselin.

Panelists for this “hot topic” program will be our partner (and ICREW NJ member) Susan C. Karp , ICREW NJ member Laura Brinkerhoff, President and CEO of Brinkerhoff Environmental Services, and Irene Kropp, N.J. Department of Environmental Protection Assistant Commissioner of Site Remediation, who has played an instrumental role in the new legislation.

The panel will present an overview of the Site Remediation Reform Act, with a special focus on those aspects of the law which will bring wide-ranging changes to transactions and redevelopment, as well as strategies for making deals work within the parameters of the new law. Topics will include:

  • Presumptive remedies for residential development

  • LSRP disclosure obligations during due diligence

  • The transfer of oversight from the State to the LSRP

  • New mandatory remediation timeframes

  • …and more
