David Farer Leads Green Leases Roundtable Discussion at Annual NAREIT Conference

David Farer participated in REITWise 2009: NAREIT’s Law, Accounting & Finance Conference as co-leader of a roundtable discussion on issues associated with Green Leases. The three-day educational and networking event, sponsored by the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts, featured a broad range of programming for the real estate investment community. REITWise 2009 was held in La Quinta, California on March 25-27.

David served as leader of a Green Leases roundtable, facilitating an informative and comprehensive discussion of key issues associated with the “greening” of traditional leases. Primary discussion points included:

  • Driving forces for green leases and green insurance

  • Rethinking the net lease for green buildings

  • Allocating costs and benefits of green buildings and their operation and maintenance

  • Green insurance for green and conventional buildings

A director of our firm and chair of our Environmental and Brownfields practice group, David has extensive experience in matters associated with the cleanup and redevelopment of contaminated properties including brownfields, environmental compliance and insurance issues, resolution of environmental issues in bankruptcy proceedings and litigation arising from those issues, and the emerging field of sustainable development and green building.
