Maura Blau Addresses Global Climate Change at NJSBA Environmental Law Section Program
Maura Blau, counsel in the firm and a member of our Environmental & Brownfields practice group, presided over a presentation of issues related to Global Climate Change at the New Jersey State Bar Association’s 2007 Environmental Law Section Forum Weekend, held June 22-24 in Avalon, NJ.
Maura moderated the program, and also presented a review of the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2007 decision in Massachusetts v. EPA, wherein the Court found that U.S. EPA has a statutory obligation to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from new motor vehicles under the Clean Air Act. The ruling reversed a 2005 U.S. Court of Appeals decision, and remanded the matter back to U.S. EPA for definitive action.
With a practice focused on counseling and assisting clients on environmental due diligence, contaminated site remediation, and brownfield redevelopment, Maura holds degrees in environmental science and mechanical engineering as well as law. She is active in the NJSBA Environmental Section , where she serves on the Board of Directors.
Maura is also a member of the Union County Bar Association, the NJ Society of Women Environmental Professionals (NJSWEP), Industrial Commercial Real Estate Women of New Jersey (ICREW), and is Treasurer of Women Lawyers in Union County. She is a Master in the Justice Stewart G. Pollock Environmental American Inn of Court.
