2007 Chambers USA Guide Again Names Farer Fersko a Leader in Environmental, Real Estate and Land Use Law
The legal publisher Chambers and Partners has published their 2007 “Chambers USA” guide to leading U.S. law firms and attorneys, and has once again named Farer Fersko as a leader in the fields of environmental law, real estate law, and zoning and land use law.
The 2007 directory also individually recognizes our partners David Farer, Jack Fersko, Richard Ericsson and Ann Waeger as leaders in their respective areas of practice.
Describing the firm’s practice as “competent, thorough and sophisticated,” Chambers notes “the firm is esteemed by clients as a ‘true boutique’ with a much-admired practice focused on environmental and real estate work in NJ.”
“Known for the ‘excellence’ of its transactional work,” Chambers writes, “it is also capable of resolving litigious matters. The firm’s core client base is real estate investors seeking to purchase and redevelop brownfield sites - an area of practice pioneered by the firm.”
Chambers’ editors also note that Farer Fersko “excels at land use, zoning and advising businesses on these aspects of real estate deals.” They conclude that Farer Fersko is “a sound choice for work on real estate deals involving environmentally challenged sites.”
In their comments related to individual attorneys, David Farer is in the highest rank of leaders in environmental law, and is distinguished as “the leading name in Industrial Site Recovery Act (ISRA)” who is admired for “lecturing at every seminar on the subject”. The directory quotes sources on David’s “keen understanding of the regulations and insurance and financing issues,” his “enthusiastic, personable demeanor,” and his “excellent transactional technique.”
Jack Fersko is in the highest rank of leaders in real estate, zoning and land use law, and is recognized by sources for his “very keen understanding of the insurance, financing and regulatory issues” which surround real estate and redevelopment transactions. “With 25 years' experience in this sector,” Chambers writes, “Fersko is looked up to as an expert.”
Richard Ericsson, whose ranking is new to the Chambers USA guide this year, is described as a “business person’s environmental lawyer,” prized by clients for his extensive “expertise with sites” and for his “clear, coherent communications.” Chambers concludes that Richard is “deeply knowledgeable of the NJ regulatory program.”
Ann Waeger is once again ranked as a leader in real estate zoning and land use law and for the first time is also recognized as a leader in the environmental law sector. She is characterized by sources and Chambers’ editors as an “expert in environmental insurance” who is held in high regard for her expertise in all aspects of real estate transactions and in environmental matters.
Chambers USA is widely acknowledged and respected as an independent and objective professional benchmark within the legal community. Rankings are based upon research into the strengths and reputation of attorneys and law firms. The process includes extensive interviews with a wide range of sources, including colleagues, other attorneys and clients.
