Farer and Waeger Lecture at ALI-ABA Environmental Insurance Symposium in San Francisco

In June, David Farer chaired and Ann Waeger lectured in San Francisco at the 7th annual American Law Institute-American Bar Ass’n advanced course on “Environmental Insurance: Emerging Issues and Latest Developments on the New Coverage and Insurance Cost Recovery.”

The national course, developed by David in 1999 at the request of the late Judge Edward Becker, former Chief Judge of the Third Circuit Court of Appeals and then-chair of the ALI-ABA program committee, focused on resolving environmental insurance claims, and on procuring new insurance products for property acquisitions and Brownfield redevelopment projects.

Ann spoke on both days of the symposium, addressing issues including settlement strategies, cost-effective resolution of environmental insurance claims, the growing role of the new insurance products in structuring deals and brownfield redevelopment, and specifics on negotiating and using environmental insurance policies.

In the published materials, Ann contributed articles on insurance claims, and on current insurance policies for insuring against environmental risks.
