David Farer Interviews Deputy Secretary, U.S. Dept. of the Interior
Our partner David B. Farer recently had the honor of interviewing David J. Hayes, Deputy Secretary, U.S. Department of the Interior. The July 14 interview for the American College of Environmental Lawyers (ACOEL) was a special ACOEL presentation on the Obama administration’s environmental initiatives and priorities, including those related to the ongoing development of renewable energy alternatives and the management of global warming impacts.
Mr. Hayes is a prominent and highly respected figure within both the political and non-profit environmental and energy sectors. He served as Counselor to Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt and as Deputy Secretary of the Interior during the Clinton administration, was a special advisor to Vice President Gore on sustainability issues, and played an active role during the Obama presidential campaign prior to assuming his current position in the administration.
David Farer founded and chairs our firm’s Environmental & Brownfields practice group, which advises clients on the impact of environmental laws on transactions, including the cleanup and redevelopment of contaminated properties and the evolving field of sustainable development and green building. He is an ACOEL fellow and a member of its Executive Committee.
