John Reilly Participates in Urban Core III at Newark’s NJPAC

Our partner John Reilly moderated a presentation at Urban Core III, New Jersey’s premier revitalization workshop, presented on February 15 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark.

John, who Chairs our firm’s Litigation and Condemnation practice group, lead a timely point-counterpoint discussion between attorneys presenting both the property owner’s and the municipal/redeveloper’s perspectives on the use of eminent domain in New Jersey for redevelopment purposes. He characterized the event as “informative and thought provoking, and of significant importance to both municipalities seeking revitalization and property owners.”

John directed discussion on an array of eminent domain issues, including the impact of Kelo v. New London on redevelopment initiatives in New Jersey, Public Advocate Ronald Chen’s report on reforming the use of eminent domain for redevelopment, and legislative eminent domain reform efforts pending in both the Assembly and Senate.

Urban Core III was presented by the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and Langan Engineering & Environmental Services.
