Robert Stout Hosts Program at 2008 Annual American Bar Association Annual Meeting

On August 8, Robert A. Stout, an associate in our firm and a member of our Real Estate and Redevelopment practice group, hosted “What Every Real Estate Attorney Needs to Know about Environmental Law”, a program presented by the ABA’s Young Lawyers Division (YLD) at the ABA’s Annual Meeting in New York.

During the presentation, Robert addressed the management of environmental liability connected with real estate transactions, including an overview of the statutory sources of liability and the defenses. He also covered the contractual allocation of liability – in essence, what constitutes a “good deal”. His fellow panelists discussed environmental litigation (“when the good deal goes bad”) and the use of environmental insurance as an added protection.

Robert was recently reappointed for a second term as Committee Chair of the YLD Real Property, Probate and Trust section, and also serves as the YLD RPPT section’s liaison to the ABA’s main Real Property Probate and Trust section.
