Maura E. Blau is counsel in the firm and a member of our Environmental & Brownfields practice group.
With degrees in environmental science and mechanical engineering as well as law, Maura has been practicing law since 1989. Maura began her career as an environmental lawyer in private practice before joining the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, where she represented the Department of Environmental Protection and the Board of Public Utilities. Maura then joined us in 1999 as an environmental associate. After a stint conducting her own law practice, The Blau Law Firm, from 2003 to 2006, Maura rejoined us as counsel in 2006.
Maura’s practice focuses on counseling and assisting clients on environmental due diligence, contaminated site remediation, and brownfield redevelopment.
Maura has written and co-authored articles on a wide array of environmental topics, and has been published in the New Jersey Law Journal and the newsletter of the Environmental Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association. She has lectured on topics including brownfields, stormwater and wetlands, and has taught for the New Jersey Institute of Technology on the topics of Superfund and hazardous waste regulations.
Maura is active in the New Jersey State Bar Association, Environmental Section, where she is on the Board of Directors, and is a member of the Union County Bar Association. She is also a Master in the Justice Stewart G. Pollock Environmental American Inn of Court. She is a member of the Society of Women Environmental Professionals, and Industrial Commercial Real Estate Women of New Jersey, and is Treasurer of Women Lawyers in Union County.
Maura earned her B.A. in Environmental Science from the State University of New York at Purchase in 1979, her B.E.M.E. in Mechanical Engineering from the City University of New York, City College, in 1984, and her J.D. from Rutgers Law School, Newark, in 1989.
