Jack Fersko is a director of the firm and chair of our Real Estate & Redevelopment practice group.
Jack has over twenty-five years of experience in the real estate field. His legal services emphasize industrial and commercial real estate activities, urban redevelopment, and the impact of environmental laws on real estate and business transactions. He has successfully negotiated many real estate agreements involving complex environmental transactional issues and related insurance agreements.
Jack is a Fellow in the prestigious American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL), in which only twenty-two New Jersey attorneys have been invited to membership. Jack serves on ACREL's Board of Governors, and is past Chair of the organization's Land Use and Environmental Committee.
The Chambers USA client’s guide to leading business lawyers describes Jack as an “excellent leading practitioner,” and notes: “He has twenty years of experience in complex transactions, and he is adept at balancing environmental concerns with commerciality.”
Jack has chaired and participated on numerous committees of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) and the New Jersey Home Builders Association. NAIOP selected Jack to receive its 2006 Industry Service Award. He is Immediate Past Chair of NAIOP’s National Environmental and Infrastructure Committee, and serves on the New Jersey Chapter's Board of Trustees.
Jack lectures and writes extensively on real estate and redevelopment law for organizations including the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education (ICLE), the American Bar Association, ACREL and NAIOP. He is the editor of – and a contributor to – ICLE’s two volume treatise on “Commercial Real Estate Transactions in New Jersey.” He has also written chapters on environmental insurance for the ABA publication “Brownfields – A Comprehensive Guide to Redeveloping Contaminated Property,” and on environmental issues in sales and leases for the “Commercial Real Estate Transactions Handbook,” Aspen Press 3d ed., among many other publications.
Jack is also a member of the Industrial and Office Real Estate Brokers Association, ABA’s Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section (Group Vice-Chair of the Leasing Group), and the New Jersey State Bar Association. He serves as President of Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel.
Jack graduated from Marietta College with a B.A. in 1975, and received his J.D. from Ohio Northern University in 1978.
Jack is named in “Best Lawyers in America,” is named a leader in real estate and land use in the Chambers USA Client Guide, has been named as a New Jersey “Super Lawyer,” and is accorded Martindale-Hubbell’s highest AV rating.
